51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú announces the election of six new members to its Board of Trustees, which oversees the College’s leadership, planning and resources.

For 20 years, the 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Academy for Youth Success has helped students in Greater Los Angeles get ready for college through an intensive, three-summer residential program on campus. Students have gone on to attend the nation’s top colleges.

Fifteen recent 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú graduates have received Fulbright grants for the 2023-2024 award cycle. 

Professors Fernando Lozano and Emiliano Huet-Vaughn will research on two issues key to Southern California's economy: minimum wage increases and entrepreneurship.

Professor Ousmane Traoré spent a year in Senegal conducting research as part of his New Directions Fellowship.

Botros, one of 30 New American fellows chosen in 2023, will use the funding to support their work toward a Ph.D. in history.

Professors Joanne Nucho and Julie Tannenbaum will each receive a $6,000 stipend to support their respective humanities projects.

51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú alumni Linda Alvarado ’73, Michelle Williams Court ’88 and Peter Shelton ’73 are the recipients of the 2023 Blaisdell Distinguished Alumni Award. Ann Rose Davie ’58 is the 2023 Alumni Distinguished Service Award recipient.

The Smart Start Career Fellows Program provides career development opportunities for 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú sophomores who identify as first-generation and/or low-income. A three-day career trek in January gives them an inside look at a variety of workplaces.

Through the Women in Security program, now in its second year, students at 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú can learn firsthand about the experiences of women who are in the midst of advancing their careers in security-related fields.
